Charles Bukovski is one of the brightest representatives of «black prose» of America. He was an alcoholic despite this he was a genius. His prose represents vital paradoxes in most cases, as life can surprise and ruin at the same time. He was newest Hemingway. This story is about Kess, most beautiful girl in a city. Her beauty was like a punishment, everybody hated and wanted her for her beauty. Sisters accused her for abuse by it, and men were added as lambs. Their dad become an alcoholic and mom has found a lover and left her daughters. At first they lived with some relative, and then they were taken across in a monastery. There everybody were jealous of her beauty and were beating her. From those times she has a scar on a cheek, that yet more underlined Kesses beauty. Charles Bukovski always represented himself as one of heroes. Here he meets with this Kess and they go to the bar. Kess hates the beauty. She takes than a knife in a hand and cuts herself… They stayed a night together. In few days he knows, that the most beautiful girl died. This was a suicide, she cut her throat. Such are novels of Charles Bukovski. They are full of realistic romanticism and injustice. Charles Bukovski shows the dark sides in people, because they are most hidden, secret. I recommend this book only to those people who are fond of the real prosaic art which has really deep reflection in dull human consciousness.
